Introducing EverTasty
As the aging population grows, elderly health has become a pressing concern. Many elderly people want to have a healthy diet but do not know how to make a diet plan that suits them. Some elderly people are unable to maintain a healthy eating habit. In this case, Evertasty appears.
Evertasty is a socially-driven innovation, dedicated to redefining elderly nutrition by turning healthy eating into an engaging and rewarding journey. We created a home system to help older people living alone improve their eating habits and become healthier. By collecting and analyzing various health indicators of the elderly in daily life, the system will generate a health report and the most suitable diet plan for the elderly. In order to keep seniors motivated to maintain a healthy diet, they can grow vegetables on the app and receive them when they are ripe.
Throughout the project, I actively participated in all stages, primarily leading the translation of findings into tangible solutions. I was responsible for layouts, design cues, and final visuals.
As UI and Visual Design Lead, my key contributions included transforming research insights into user-friendly designs, structuring screens, and crafting the final look.

After reviewing the articles, we distilled key insights, statistics, and impactful quotes that informed our initial approach and perspective on the problem.
In the U.S., “elderly” generally refers to people aged 65 and older. This group often lives independently, but faces multiple overlapping health and nutrition challenges.

Our research reveals that most elderly individuals still depend on themselves or family members for daily meals.
01 Chronic Disease
94.9% have at least one chronic condition
78.7% have two or more chronic condition
02 Insufficient Dietary Guidance
49.2% Participants in survey have difficulty in choosing food that meets their health needs
03 Family Feels Powerless To Help Due To Distance
40% Reduction in weekly contact frequency with family members
only 30% of remote caregivers regularly use modern communication tools

They also have the desire to eat delicious but less healthy foods.
They lack reliable and authoritative sources for finding healthy food options.
Their eating habits have remained largely consistent from their youth to the present.

I want to eat what I like/want to eat
I want my dietary habits not to have bad influence on my health
I want to manage my diet healthily
They could enjoy delicious meals that meets their health needs, allowing them to maintain both satisfaction and well-being without compromise.

We could made them have access and identify healthy food options that meet their dietary needs without feeling restricted in their choices.

In the first round, we conducted an A/B testing session where participants simulated their daily routines.
This helped us observe user interactions in different contexts and determine the most seamless, unobtrusive placement for the sensors in their homes.
In the second round, we created a simple “grow an apple” interaction task — users gave energy to help the apple mature and harvest it in the end.
This test allowed us to see how quickly users could pick up the idea and understand how the system works.

Based on user testing, we decided that once users successfully grow 9 plants in the system, they will receive a package of corresponding ingredients delivered to their home.
The number 9 was chosen to strike a balance — it provides enough challenge to keep users motivated and gives a sense of achievement upon completion.
At the same time, it helps optimize delivery costs, as shipping ingredients in batches of 9 allows for more efficient packaging and logistics.
01 Seamless
Sensors are placed unobtrusively in the home environment, allowing data to be collected naturally without interrupting users’ daily routines. The experience feels effortless and blends into everyday life.
Sensors

02 Customized
The system generates personalized dietary suggestions and planting plans based on each user’s health data and eating habits — ensuring that every experience feels relevant and supportive.
APP

03 Motivated
Through a rewarding planting mechanism, users grow virtual plants by maintaining healthy behaviors. Once they successfully grow 9 plants, they receive real ingredients delivered to their home — turning digital progress into tangible motivation.
Farm

When users receive the product, the sensing chips are embedded into a series of everyday household items.
This allows the system to unobtrusively collect dietary-related data throughout the day, creating a seamless and effortless tracking experience.

All key data collection, tracking, and interactions take place within the app.
Users can monitor their daily nutrition insights, track plant growth progress, and manage their ingredient rewards — all in one centralized platform.

Users can follow the recommended recipes within the system.
When the sensors detect sufficient water intake and nutrient absorption, the system automatically rewards users with corresponding energy points — reinforcing healthy eating behaviors through positive feedback.

Use energy points to plant and deliver to your home
Once users successfully grow 9 virtual foods in the system, they will receive a box of corresponding real ingredients delivered to their home.
This feature connects digital progress with real-world rewards, reinforcing healthy habits through a tangible and motivating experience.
03 Delivery
The entire delivery process is managed by Evertasty, from ingredient selection to freshness control — ensuring a seamless and satisfying user experience.
Every detail is designed to enhance the user’s sense of achievement, embodying the idea that what you grow is what you get.
